What is a blog? It is an online webblog. Nowadays, most of the people communicate through the internet. There are many ways to communicate with people and blogging is one of the common ways and the video which I watched in the youtube was discussed about a blog. It was mentioned that a blog is like a piece of code on the internet. You can write about TV shows, music, photography, and politics. Therefore if you write something, people in the world can share any lots of information, even bad news. In addition, there are political insights too.
There are advantages and disadvantages of blogs. First, it helps us to start conversations. For example, news becomes conversations because people have questions or comments about those kinds of situations. These small things become good conversations. The second thing is we can have journalism. It is like a report what you think about and they can do things that the media cannot do. Thus, we can express our feelings through the internet and it gives us democracy back. The other thing is it connects people’s insights and opinions by reading blogs, so sometimes it gives power to people. The fourth thing is blogs give a real image of what is really happening such as Iraq war. In this video, a man took pictures of his injury after the war. It was really horrible. I realized that it is a real world. I think showing reality of world is a kind of advantages. However, the most impressive thing about blog for me is about saving lives. Blogs can cause lots of bad things, but it also saves one’s life. According to the video, there was a girl who was about to commit suicide. However her friends found out that in the blog and defend her from killing herself. At that moment, the girl was depressed about her life and she does not have any motivation with living, but when she did not commit suicide, she knew what to do with her life. In my opinion, this is the most powerful thing about blogging.
In contrast, there are also disadvantages of blogs. First, it is possible that you will pay no attention to your real friends and you will be closer with other friends who met you in the internet. We know and some are nice, but if you met strange people, you can be hurt by someone. I know the one story about a man who died because of making friends through the internet. One day, he decided to meet them and when he went to the appointment place, he was killed by them. They were kind of tickers. Therefore, it is really dangerous to make through the internet because we do know their faces and they do not know our faces. The next thing is we cannot know if things that are written in blogs are true or not. In this video, there was a girl who is a lesbian. She posted about her life and people criticized her a lot. Finally, she erased her blog. However, the most surprise thing was it was a made-up story. One blog owner made a story and she was just a character. The thing that I learned through this video was even if, there is a proof, we always need to suspect and be careful. The last thing is about personal thing. When you write something in blogs, it means you are sharing about yourself, so every time when you write something you need to be careful.
In my opinion, it is natural to have advantages and disadvantages and even if there are disadvantages, I think blogging is really necessary. If you want to post something, just make sure that you have to distinguish what to write or not because sometimes it causes a big fight.
